First, a quote.

“Creativity is more than just being different. Anybody can plan weird; that’s easy. What’s hard is to be as simple as Bach. Making the simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity” – Charles Mingus
Are you ready for the journey to begin?
Let's get started
The design process
Our process for bringing bright ideas to life

The design process that we've created and will use in working with you combines principles from the lean startup, methodologies from Stanford’s dschool, IDEOs Design thinking and UX best practices.  We've been at this for over 16 years, consulting with large corporations to small start-ups.  We noticing in most cases if a design process existed, it was extremely inefficient while many well-established companies had no design process to follow at all.

So, we created one for all of us to follow.

In a nutshell

There are 6 stages in the design process and projects typically take between 4-8 weeks to complete the UX design however, the time it takes to complete a project is determined by the size of the project.

1
Assembly

Preparation is the mother of all success.  Before the entire project team is engaged it’s important to take the time to fully prepare for the project by getting clear on what we are setting out to change or acheive.  It's important to set well-defined goals which are grounded in numbers, set the priority of your goals and determine how we will monitor our success.

In this phase of the project we are counting on you to do some heavy lifting in order to help us better understand all the things we need to know is that we can design an incredible user experience.

Here is the document you'll need to preparing for the project.  Don't worry we'll help you create your plan and set your goals.

2
Discovery

The discovery phase is where we meet in person, roll up our sleves and explore all the ideas we can create in order to solve the challenge we've set out to solve.  You'll get to practice your drawing skills as we sketch and play - dream what's next for the product and your customers.

It's a 3 day experience where we have a chance to share ideas, push thru limitations and gain a clear understanding of where you are now and where you will be when this product gets delivered to your customers.

Here's what we'll need for the 3 day in-person discovery meeting:

- The undivided attention from the diverse team we have assigned to this project

- Access to the product(s) we will be redesigning (if this is a redesign)

- A large conference room

- As much whiteboard space as we can get

- Sticky notes galore

- Enough sharpie pens to capture all of our bright ideas (that's alot!)

- A projector if we will be viewing or demoing a product

- Access to customers or end users

We will send you an agenda before the meeting so that you will have a crystal clear idea of how we will spend our time.
